Billiard Accessories

There are many types of billiard accessories that all have little purposes, but greatly improve the game. Chalk is the most widely used. It provides more friction between the ball and the cue when it is applied to the cue tip. This keeps the tip from skipping off the ball and allows for more powerful shots. When chalk is used on the hand instead of the tip, it has the opposite effect, allowing the cue stick to slide over the hand easier.

Leather tips are great billiard accessories. They are glued onto the tip of the billiard cue then gently sanded to accept chalk. They wear out over time, but can easily be replaced. Leather tips grab the ball even more and allow the player to put spin on the ball.

Other billiard accessories are a brush for the felt. It must be soft enough to not damage the felt. This keeps the felt clean, and prevents buildup. The billiard rack is vital. It comes in a few shapes, most notably the triangle and the diamond. The rack allows the billiard balls to be lined up nicely before the beginning of a game. Other accessories such as billiard lights and extra cues make the game more enjoyable.
